The Supramonte of Sardinia

A hiking trip into the wildest heart of Sardinia, among limestone mountains, ancient paths, deep gorges, Nuragic villages, and some of the most spectacular bays in the Mediterranean.

Sardinia isn’t just crystal-clear sea and postcard-perfect beaches. In the hinterland and along the eastern coast, it hides a rugged, authentic, and deeply fascinating territory, where walking becomes a privileged way to discover powerful landscapes rich in history.

This itinerary crosses some of the most suggestive areas of the Supramonte and the Gulf of Orosei, alternating sea-view hikes, historical-naturalistic routes, and days in rocky and wild environments. You’ll walk along ancient tracks used by shepherds and charcoal burners, through Mediterranean maquis, limestone walls, isolated valleys, and sudden glimpses of the blue sea.

The trip is designed for those who want to experience Sardinia at a slow pace, going beyond the island’s more touristy image. Each day allows you to discover a different face of this territory: beaches reachable only on foot or by sea, the mystery of the ancient village of Tiscali, the natural power of the Gorropu Gorges, the iconic beauty of Cala Goloritzé, and the first section of the Selvaggio Blu, up to the spectacular Pedra Longa.

Why choose this trek

This trip is ideal for those looking for a varied, intense but accessible hiking experience in one of Sardinia’s most fascinating territories.

The program alternates sea, mountains, history, and nature, without focusing on just one type of landscape. You’ll go from the bays of the Gulf of Orosei to the inland gorges, from panoramic coastal paths to routes linked to the island’s ancient history.

The formula with daily van transfers allows you to tackle each hike with greater comfort, returning or moving on at the end of the day without having to carry all your luggage. It’s a trip suitable for those who are already somewhat used to walking and want to experience Sardinia in an authentic, active way, far from the most crowded circuits.

Program and trekking details

Trip program

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the farmhouse
The trip begins with the group meeting and the transfer to the farmhouse.

The first day is dedicated to arrival, settling in, and meeting the guide and other participants. It will be an opportunity to get into the rhythm of the trip, prepare for the following days’ hikes, and start discovering the authentic atmosphere of Sardinia.

Day 2: From Cala Fuili to Cala Luna
The first hike leads from Cala Fuili to Cala Luna, two splendid bays reachable only on foot or by sea.

The path alternates between climbs and descents that are never too demanding, with continuous views of the coast and the sea. Arriving at Cala Luna is one of the most suggestive moments of the day: a light-colored beach, framed by rocky walls and large natural caves, in a setting that perfectly represents the beauty of the Gulf of Orosei.

During the trip, daily transfers are made by van, so you can comfortably reach the start of the hikes.

Indicative stage details: about 12 km, 400 m of elevation gain and 300 m of elevation loss.

Day 3: Tiscali
The day is dedicated to a historical-naturalistic hike towards the ancient village of Tiscali.

The route combines nature, history, and walking in a very charming environment. Tiscali is a place shrouded in mystery, whose origin is still being studied, but research has brought to light materials dating back at least to the Age of Metals.

The path is dynamic and varied, with sections that make the hike interesting from both a naturalistic and cultural point of view. To reach the start of the route, a van transfer to the Oddoene Valley is planned.

Indicative stage details: about 9 km, 600 m of elevation gain and loss.

Day 4: Gorropu Gorges and transfer to Santa Maria Navarrese
The day leads to one of the most imposing natural environments in Sardinia: the Gorropu Gorges.

Also known as the “Grand Canyon of Europe,” these gorges impress with their silence, the verticality of the walls, and the wild force of the landscape. The walls exceed 400 meters in height and accompany the walk in a grand and primordial setting.

The hike starts from the Genna Silana area. At the end of the day, a transfer to Santa Maria Navarrese is planned, a reference point for the final coastal part of the trip.

Indicative stage details: about 8 km, 600 m of elevation gain and loss.

Day 5: Cala Goloritzé
This day is dedicated to Cala Goloritzé, one of the most famous and spectacular bays in Sardinia.

Reaching it on foot makes the experience even more special. The path descends progressively towards the sea and the magic of the place reveals itself little by little, until the imposing limestone spire that dominates the beach appears.

Cala Goloritzé is an iconic place, with transparent water, light-colored rock, and a natural landscape of extraordinary beauty. After the hike, a shepherd’s dinner is planned at the Ovile Bertarelli, with local products and an authentic atmosphere.

Indicative stage details: about 12 km, 550 m of elevation gain and loss.

Day 6: From Santa Maria Navarrese to Pedra Longa
The final hike follows a small sea-view crossing from Santa Maria Navarrese to Pedra Longa.

This section corresponds to the initial part of the famous Selvaggio Blu, one of the most adventurous treks in Europe. In this section, however, the route presents no technical difficulties and is perfect for concluding the trip with a panoramic and rewarding walk.

The path alternates between climbs and descents along the coast, with continuous views of the sea, until arriving at Pedra Longa, a majestic rocky spire overlooking the water. The day marks the conclusion of the trip.

Indicative stage details: about 12 km, 550 m of elevation gain and loss.
