Selvaggio Blu Climbing
An intense and adventurous experience along the east coast of Sardinia, in the heart of the Gulf of Orosei, featuring cliffs, abseils, climbing sections, crystal-clear bays, and bivouacs immersed in nature.
The Selvaggio Blu is one of the most famous and fascinating treks in the Mediterranean. More than just a simple walk, it is a true adventure: you cross isolated environments, walk far from inhabited centers, tackle technical sections, and live for several days in close contact with the wild nature of the Sardinian coast.
This proposal is designed for those who want to experience the most complete and intense version of the Selvaggio Blu. The route includes days of walking, exposed passages, climbing sections, and abseils, all within an extraordinary landscape.
Specific experience in climbing or rope maneuvers is not necessary, as the trek takes place with a certified UIAGM Mountain Guide, who handles safety and the management of technical passages. However, it is important to have good hiking preparation, a spirit of adaptation, and a desire to challenge yourself.
Each day offers spectacular views, descents to bays with transparent water, moments of sharing at the bivouac, and the feeling of experiencing a part of Sardinia that is authentic, powerful, and far from everything.
Why choose this trek
The Selvaggio Blu is ideal for those looking for a strong, immersive, and out-of-the-ordinary experience. It is not a traditional trek, but a complete adventure where walking, technique, the sea, bivouacking, and group life become part of the same journey.
The beauty of the route lies precisely in its wild character: you stay away from inhabited centers, sleep outdoors, set up camp, cook together, and move day after day along one of the most spectacular coasts in the Mediterranean.
The presence of the Mountain Guide allows you to safely tackle the most technical sections, making the experience accessible even to those without mountaineering skills, provided they have a good hiking base and the desire for an authentic adventure.
Trek program and details
Trip program
Day 1: From Santa Maria Navarrese to Porto Pedrosu
The trek starts from Santa Maria Navarrese, in the Pedra Longa area, and leads towards Porto Pedrosu.
The first day is designed as a gradual entry into the atmosphere of the Selvaggio Blu. The route allows you to get familiar with the environment, the pace of the walk, and the wild landscape of the eastern Sardinian coast.
From the very first steps, you enter a spectacular context of rock, Mediterranean scrub, and glimpses of the sea.
Day 2: From Porto Pedrosu to Irbidossili
From Porto Pedrosu, you continue towards Irbidossili, crossing a section that is increasingly immersive and far from inhabited centers.
The day ends with a bivouac in a particularly suggestive setting. A dinner at a shepherd’s hut is planned, featuring local specialties and typical Sardinian flavors in an authentic and convivial atmosphere.
It will be one of the most characteristic moments of the experience, combining sharing, simplicity, and direct contact with the land.
Day 3: From Irbidossili to Cala Mariolu
The third day leads to the wonderful Cala Mariolu, one of the most iconic bays in the Gulf of Orosei.
With this stage, you get into the heart of the Selvaggio Blu: the route becomes more technical and adventurous, with panoramic and fun climbing passages, always managed with the support of the Mountain Guide.
The arrival at Cala Mariolu rewards the day’s effort with a spectacular scenario of transparent sea, light-colored rocks, and one of the most suggestive natural settings in Sardinia.
Day 4: From Cala Mariolu to Cala Modaloru
From Cala Mariolu, you continue towards Cala Modaloru, along a stage that alternates walking, technical passages, and abseils.
It is a day very representative of the spirit of the Selvaggio Blu: adventure, verticality, exposure, and continuous views of the sea.
The route requires attention and concentration but offers extraordinary views and the feeling of moving in a truly wild and remote environment.
Day 5: From Cala Modaloru to Cala Biriala
The fifth day leads from Modaloru to Cala Biriala and is probably one of the most intense stages of the entire itinerary.
The route concentrates many of the typical elements of the Selvaggio Blu: technical sections, abseils, rock, walking, sea, and landscapes of great beauty.
It is a demanding but extremely rewarding day, where adventure and the spectacular nature of the environment merge in a particularly strong way.
Day 6: From Cala Biriala to Cala Sisine
The last day leads towards Cala Sisine. Compared to the previous stages, it is shorter but maintains the technical character of the itinerary, with some abseils and adventurous sections.
The arrival at Cala Sisine marks the conclusion of the trek. The return by boat to Santa Maria Navarrese allows you to observe the coast you traveled over the previous days from the sea, closing the experience with a suggestive and memorable perspective.
